What is UK-Elect?
UK-Elect is an election viewer, forecaster, processor and simulator which can be used at any time to view British election results, predict the outcome of an election, and to closely examine results of previous elections. It is especially useful in the run-up to all elections - local, regional, national and European - providing an interesting accompaniment to media coverage, and a second opinion on the accuracy - or otherwise - of their predictions. It has been extensively tested on the results of previous general elections. In normal use it takes as its input the current opinion-poll percentages for the main British political parties and the results of one previous election. It can then predict the results of the subsequent election on a national, regional, or constituency-by-constituency basis, displaying them as maps and graphics.
All the maps, graphics and predictions on this web site were produced using UK-Elect.
UK-Elect includes extensive sets of British election results including the full 1987, 1992, 1997 and 2001 General Election results, 1989, 1994, 1999 and 2004 UK European results, 1999 and 2003 Scottish Parliament and Welsh Assembly results, 2000 and 2004 London Mayoral and Assembly results, and many dozens of sets of local election results.
UK-Elect can also be used to analyse, and to extrapolate from, the results of by-elections, enabling the user to obtain answers to questions like "what would happen if these extraordinary percentages were repeated nation-wide?"
Users include major and minor political parties, MPs, MEPs, councillors, academics, students, journalists, and many others.
